This feature, in development since at least October, offers a new way for channel admins to interact with their audiences.
The second addition is polls, enabling channel admins to quickly gauge the sentiment of their audience. While polls have been a staple in WhatsApp group chats, their addition to Channels is a logical step. Participants can select multiple options at once, enhancing engagement. Zuckerberg also highlighted the ability for channel owners to set multiple admins, a valuable tool for large corporations and brands needing constant communication with customers. Additionally, users can now add channel posts to their Status, providing more context to updates.
These features, officially out of the beta phase, will gradually roll out across Android, iOS, WhatsApp Web, and desktop apps. While most changes focus on channel owners, the ability to share channel posts through Status updates adds a subscriber-focused element. These enhancements aim to improve engagement between brands and customers on WhatsApp's one-way broadcasting tool.
